April 27, 1951 - May 5, 2021
It is with love and great sadness that we announce the passing of Jillyan (Jill) Ross (nee Smthye).
Born on April 27, 1951 in Montreal QC, she is survived by her sons Michael (Tamara) and Robin (Andrea), sister Sally (Albert), brother Ian (Diane), grandsons Nolan and Lucas, many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Jill grew up in Point Claire QC where she graduated from Macdonald High School then went on to get married and move across the country with stops in Fredericton NB, Ottawa and St. Catherines ON and Lethbridge AB, before settling in Nanaimo BC.
Jill's early years in Nanaimo were spent raising her two boys before attending Malaspina College-University and completing the Health Care Assistant Program then on to a rewarding career in home support where her passion and compassion for those in need was able to thrive.
She also enjoyed gardening and looking after her home as well as spending time with Murray, Tanner and Jackson (her fur-babies).
The family would like to thank everyone at the NRGH Palliative Care Unit for the care and attention Jill received during her stay.
