Jennie Lavina

Born April 15, 1920 in Hillandale, SK, Jennie passed away in Nanaimo, BC on February 8, 2017.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jean, in 2004, as well as her 11 brothers and sisters.

Jennie is survived by her children, Karen (Keith) Bryan, Terry (Claudette) Stav, Carole (Garett) Granquist, Nola (Mike) Dennis, and Bernie (Lesley) Stav; grandchildren, Cindy (Chris) Somers, Kelly (Camille) Bryan, Ginger Granquist (Hassen Kemel), Kirk (Janel) Bryan, Jacob Stav, Daniel (Richelle) Stav, and Chantal (Scott) Connaghan; great grandchildren, Nathan, Evan, Austin, Finnian, Sullivan, Olivia, Thomas, AJ, Diesel, and Rockson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jennie and Jean were married for 61 years and resided in Yorkton, SK and Victoria, BC before moving to Nanaimo, BC in 1980. After the hard, loving work of raising five children, Jennie took time for herself by bowling and golfing. She was also very active in her church as head caterer. Even though she began to lose her eyesight, Jennie took on the fun responsibility of running the library at Berwick on the Lake. She was a loving lady who always enjoyed a good laugh, music, and time spent with her friends.

A celebration of Jennie’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1 Newcastle Avenue, Nanaimo, BC.
