She is preceded in death by her parents Mary and Dymetro Sokolan, loving husband Howard, and sisters Helen and Sylvia. Jeanie was born on the farm near Wynyard, SK on December 26th, 1926. As a young woman she left the farm with her two sisters to seek her fortune in the big city. She was an industrious girl with no fear of hard work and held many interesting jobs up until her marriage in 1952 to Howard Cosens. After their marriage, the couple moved to British Columbia and for many years they ran the busy and successful “Howie’s Chimney Sweep” business. Jeanie and Howard welcomed two children, Margie and Arthur, and spent many happy years of family life together. Jeanie was an excellent cook and is remembered for her incredible holiday meals, pies and puddings, panache for wrapping Christmas presents, and great love of family card games; particularly Whist and Gin Rummy. She was a long time member of the Moose Lodge and had an infectious laugh that will be greatly missed, but so very fondly remembered by all who loved her. Interment will take place on Friday, August 18th, 2017 at 2:30 pm at Bowen Park Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Dufferin Place for their kind and compassionate care of Jeanie. Flowers can be sent to Sands Funeral Home, Nananimo. B.C. or if so desired, at Jeanie’s request, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of B.C. #300 – 828 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C.
