JEAN ELIZABETH KLYM (SEMPLE) Born in Nanaimo, March 10, 1924, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour, on Monday, April 2, 2007, surrounded by family, with her loving husband, Stephen, at her side. Jean will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She is survived by her brother, Robert Semple, sister Lois Pridham (Reg), her nieces and nephews and other family, and her “forever friend” Harriet Sheepwash. Predeceased by parents, Janet and Robert Semple, sister Goldie and brothers, Archie and Nairn.

Jean was a compassionate, kind and caring wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many, not only close to home, but around the world. She was a faithful and longtime member of the First Baptist Church and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her Christian family and friends.

Jean and Stephen married in Detroit, Michigan, on October 18, 1947 and made their home in Nanaimo in 1953. Jean worked first at Whittingham & Martins, and later at Jean Burns and Eatons, where she had a friendly greeting for all. She will be long remembered for her warm heart, her engaging conversation, her lovely sense of humour, her friendly smile, and her wonderful way of welcoming others into her home and her heart.

Special thanks to Dr. Love and the Nurses and Hospice Volunteers who provided tender loving care and support to Jean and her family during her final weeks on the palliative care unit at Nanaimo Hospital.

A Celebration of Jean’s life will be held on Saturday, April 7th, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church, 1650 Waddington Rd. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Nanaimo Community Hospice Society, or the Nanaimo Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
