Jim passed away peacefully on Friday October 22nd, 2021, at the age of 91 in the palliative care unit at the Nanaimo hospital with Juliet and family by his side. In his latter years, Jim appreciated the care and assistance he received from his partner and his community of caregivers.
Jim was Born July 5th, 1930, in Victoria B.C. to Meg and Jimmie Trebett. He was predeceased by his wife Norma in 2008. Survived by his partner Juliet MacMurchie, sister Lois Huizinga (John), and his three sons, David (Cathy), Richard (Marnie), and Tom, as well as 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Jim spent most of his working life in the forest industry, not just a career, but also a way of life. His work took his family to live in several towns on the island, from Franklin River to Port Hardy and points in between. After many years working for M&B, Jim travelled to Africa, Peru, and Mexico to assist in forest management. He lived a good life, respected, and well loved by family and friends.
Jim spent almost 50 years working his acreage in Cedar as a managed forest.
Jim loved trees. He planted and cared for many varieties on his property in Cedar. He taught his sons and grandchildren about the forests and trees, sharing with them his passion for the outdoors.
There will be a service held at Sands funeral home on Saturday, December 4 at 1:00 pm
