James Neil BOYD

August 13, 2003

Boyd, James Neil

It is with great sadness that we announce the pasing of a dear and loving husband, son and brother. Jimmy was born in Nanaimo on November 14, 1937 and died at the age of 65 on August 13, 2003 after a valiant fight with cancer. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife and partner of 39 years, Anne Louise (Penny); his devoted mother May E. Boyd; brother Orville (Ruth) and niece Danielle Boyd; brother-in-law Dave (Marg) Pennington and niece Deborah Hes; Auntie Nellie Platt and cousins Diane Dow and Doug Platt. Jimmy was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 230 for 46 years and spent much time on large construction projects on the Island. In later years, Jimmy enjoyed being the caretaker of Spider Lake Provincial Park and working on a variety of what he called his “Handy Andy” jobs for his little old ladies. Jimmy was also a member of Elks Lodge #26, Nanaimo and the Bowser Legion #211 for many years. His biggest enjoyments were his Summer Cabins, first Horne Lake, and for the last seven years at Nanaimo Lake. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at the Elks Lodge, 595 Townsite Road, with Reverend Mas Iwasawa officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jimmy’s memory to the Cancer Fund will be greatly appreciated by all the family.
