James Lawrence Baxter, age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 27, 2019, at Nanaimo Regional Hospital. Jim was born on March 15, 1933 in Vancouver B.C., to Wilma Alice Brown.
As a young man, he was very skilled with his hands and built furniture as a hobby. Jim had a great love for horses and met his first wife, Doreen Briggs, at the old riding stables at Stanley Park. Jim studied drafting at an early age and ultimately became a Senior Partner with Industrial Mill Installations, constructing large industrial projects across Canada and the world.
Jim truly lived life to the fullest, through hard work, cabinet & wood working, gourmet cooking and traveling the world. He was an active member of the Canadian Power Squadron and spent as much time as possible boating to Alaska 3 times and circumnavigating Vancouver Island. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Elaine (DeWandel) Baxter, 4 step-children, their spouses and many grandchildren.
