September 27, 1936 - April 29, 2019
Jackson Yoshiaki Hirota, a long time resident of Nanaimo passed peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2019. Jackson was born September 27, 1936 to Hayao and Tetsuko in Steveston, BC. He married Gladys Hirota in 1972 and had two sons. He was a teacher at Smithers Christian School and then moved to Nanaimo in 1987 when he took a job as the art technician at Malaspina University until he retired in 2002. He was an avid fisherman, badminton player and a member of Probus. He enjoyed pottery and was actively involved in the Tozan Kiln project. His greatest passion was his faith in Jesus Christ; he regularly enjoyed fellowshipping at Hammond Bay Baptist Church He was preceded in death by his wife and is survived by his two sons Jonathan and Matthew,

three grandsons, and his brother, Ted Hirota and sister Eileen Hirota.

A celebration of life will be held at the First Baptist Church in Nanaimo on Sunday, May 5th, 2019 at 2 pm,1650 Waddington Road, Nanaimo, BC.
