Iris Greatta Boudot (nee Barsby)

September 15, 1922 - July 1, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, sister and grandmother, Iris Boudot.

Predeceased by parents John and Martha Barsby; husband Joe; brothers Ernest, Jack and Ted. Iris is survived by her loving family: sons Don (Wendy), Vern and Ron (Pauline); twin sister Phyllis Stephens; sister-in-law Elaine Barsby; 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Iris was born and raised in Nanaimo and worked as a bookkeeper for the Wellington Hotel and the Terminal Hotel for many years. She was an active member of the Native Daughters of BC Post #2, The Nanaimo Curling Club, The Nanaimo Gladiola & Dahlia Society, lawn bowling, 5-pin bowling, St. Andrew’s United Church and the St. Andrew’s UCW group.

She was a very kind, hardworking and generous person and was more than happy to share her baking and hospitality with family and friends.

The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors on the 6th floor at NRGH for their compassionate care of Iris during her last few days.

A celebration of Iris’ life will be held on Friday July 8th at 1:00 pm at St. Andrew’s United Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The St. Andrew’s United Church Restoration Fund in Iris’ memory will be greatly appreciated. Rev. Bert Ramsey officiating.
