Mostad, Ingrid Helen

July 26, 1926 to July 30, 2009

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Ingrid, at the age of eighty-three at the Palliative Care unit of Nanaimo Regional General hospital.

Ingrid was born in Norway and moved with her family to Canada when she was four. The family resided in Prince Rupert where Ingrid met her husband Carl. They had three children and moved to Nanaimo in 1961. Ingrid and Carl retired to Lantzville and spent many happy years in their cherished home.

The family will always remember Ingrid’s hospitality. She always had a pot of homemade soup on the stove and fresh baked cookies in the tin. Her first words when family arrived were “What can I get you?”

For the last seven years, since Carl’s passing, Ingrid lived on her own with her beloved cat, Max. Ingrid may have been small in stature but she showed tremendous strength and courage dealing with all of the challenges of running the household on her own.

Ingrid is survived by her three children Karen, Norman, and Randi and their spouses, and her five grandchildren Andrew, Erica, Trevin, Leah, and Sean as well as her sister Nellie Carpenter and brother Magnus Anderson.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the palliative care unit and Dr. Louise Pienaar for their compassionate care of our mother.

No service or flowers by request.
