Inger Mortensen

April 15, 1924 -December 22, 2010

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful mother. Our mother passed away peacefully with our dear dad by her side, and surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by three of her brothers and her son-in-law, Larry. Mourning her loss are her husband of 66 years, Gunnar; her daughers: Karen and Debbie; son-in-law Peter; grandchildren: Andrea (Kent) Justin, Amy (Carl) and great-grandchild, Ashra, and mom’s lovely sister, Anna (Leo) and brother, Per (Birthe).

Inger was born in Denmark on the island of Fur. She was dazzled by Gunnar and his musical genius and they were married in 1944. Being of adventurous spirit, they immigrated to Canada with their two girls in 1956. Mom quickly gained a reputation in Toronto of being a superb seamstress and ran a successful business from home for many years. In 1982 our parents moved to Nanaimo where Mom took up painting. She has filled our closets with beautifully tailored clothes, filled our walls with amazing paintings and filled our hearts with happiness. In addition to her already busy life, Mom has been a faithful and zealous Witness of Jehovah since 1946, her love and respect for people being reflected in her ministry.

Words prove inadequate to express our appreciation and our affection for the staff of Dufferin Place for the very personal loving care they gave our mother and the concern they showed for our dad as he made almost daily visits to mom for over six years.
