July 14, 1946 – December 10, 2016

On the evening of December 10, 2016, Inga fell asleep on the sofa in front of her favourite cooking channel, having received a final goodnight hug from her son Greger. Unbeknownst to her friends and family, this was the evening she would choose to join her brothers and leave her pain behind. Having moved to Canada from her native Sweden in 1973, she found a good life here, starting in Toronto but soon moving to Nanaimo, British Columbia, to be near the ocean. She enjoyed people, working as a cashier in stores ranging from small to large, and even worked the graveyard shift for her last several pre-retirement years, handling freight and stocking displays at a large retailer. Her wiry strength and steadfast determination won the respect of her peers, while her quick smile and unfiltered wit made for strong and delightfully unpredictable friendships. She is survived by her sons Niklas and Greger, her daughter in law Jennifer (Niklas), grandchildren Amanda, Amber, and Sierra, as well as a plethora of Swedish nieces and nephews. A service will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, January 7, 2016 at First Memorial in Nanaimo (1720 Bowen Road).
