June 3, 1931 - October 11, 2020
It's with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Mom (oma) at the age of 89. On October 11th Mom went to a more peaceful place after 17 year battle with kidney failure and chronic pain.
Mom leaves to mourn her husband of 65 years Helmut her son Peter, and daughter Susan (Ray), and her grandchildren Zachary, Nickalaus and Emma. Mom's loved were her family, her circle of friends which grew smaller over the years and her beloved pets, her long haired dachshunds which kept her company for over 50 years.
No flowers please. A donation to the Kidney Foundation BC and Yukon Branch in mom's memory would appreciated.
A special thanks to the nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at NRGH for the care they gave mom in her last days. A heart felt thank you to Dr. Croome and all the nurses and staff at both Renal Units in Nanaimo. For all the wonderful care they had given mom over the years of dialysis.
There will be no service, a family gathering will be held at a later date. Dying is part of living. Hug your loved ones every chance you get.
Mom's last wishes were to let her go and take her home. Mom will be cremated and then come home to be with her family again.
A light from the family is gone A voice we loved is stilled
A place in vacant in the home Which never can be filled
We have to mourn the loss of one We would have loved to keep But God who surely loved her best has finally made her sleep
