July 8, 1929 - May 31, 2024
In loving memory ~
Heaven has gained an angel who is now watching over us. With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our precious Mom on May 31, 2024.
Hilda was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on July 8, 1929. After moving to Nanaimo in her late teens she worked at the Sports Centre Dry Cleaners on Commercial Street right next door to the Sports Centre Pool Hall. This is where she met the love of her life Jack.
Mom was a very special lady and if she was your friend you were her friend for life. She was never one to complain and was such a sweetheart. She was always there for you if you needed her.
Mom loved to go camping and fishing at China Creek. She took trips to Reno and Vegas and was always visiting relatives in various cities. She loved her walks, cooking, baking, bowling and crafting. She enjoyed spending time with her son in law Brett eating their favourite snacks and watching sports together.
More recently she loved to go for drives and walks in the fresh air with family and friends. She loved to be busy and was always up to going out for some little adventure until recent health issues forced her to slow down.
Hilda is survived by her two girls Karen and Vicki (Brett) and her two special grandchildren Cory and Ashley (Nick) who she thought the world of.
Mom was surrounded by the love of all her nieces and nephews and it was very evident how much her family meant to her.
Hilda was predeceased by her loving husband Jack in 2012 after 61 years of marriage. Her parents Frank and Gladys Bishop and her sisters Kathy (Harold), Jessie (Arnie), Dorothy (Tom), Audrey (Des), Cleda (Bob) and her brother Frank (Doris).
We will miss you terribly Mom but we know you are now at peace and with Dad.
Until we meet again.
