Herman was born in Drake, Sask., April 28, 1928, passed away in NRGH May 23, 2006. Predeceased by parents Henry and Maria Dyck, brothers: John, Hank, and Elmer, sister Hertha Siemans, sister-in-law Audrey Dyck, left to mourn his passing is his wife of 47 years Rosalie, daughter Karen and son Colin (Laurie) and beloved grandsons: Ethan, and Brendan, also sisters: Kay (Arne) Willems, Hilda (Henry) Foth and Mary Mayer, also brothers-in-law: Hank Siemans and Hans Mayer, sisters-in-law: Irene and Louise Dyck, also many relatives and friends. Herman and Rosalie moved to Nanaimo in 1963, and he promptly joined the Nanaimo Curling Club and Nanaimo Golf Club maintaining his memberships until the onset of Parkinson’s precluded from enjoying his sports. Herman was a journeyman carpenter and was partnered with Duff Braun (Braun & Dyck Construction) for many years. He was grateful for his association with the Parkinson’s support group. Private Family remembrance service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Parkinson Society of BC, 600-890 West Pender Street, Vancouver, BC V6C-1J9 or charity of choice. “It’s not what he has that determines the measure of a man, but rather what he is”.
