WILSON, Henry Brock

passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2006. He was predeceased by his wife Helen in 1994. He will be fondly remembered by his brother, Garth (Audrey) Wilson; daughters Peggy (Ralph) Borgerson, Gwendda (Ken) Blaustig; nephews Clark (Colleen) Wilson, Victoria; Brian (Colleen) Wilson, Parksville; niece Amy (Clem) Tapp, Port McNeil. Grandchildren Debbie Paulson, Fort St. John; Dee Dee Adams, Nanaimo; Carrie Dobbs, Nanaimo; Frank Bolgerson, Calgary; Karen Schjefte, Calgary; Bruce Bolgerson, Vancouver, as well as eight great grandchildren and great nieces and a nephew. Brock was born in Elm Creek, Manitoba on October 21, 1922 and was educated in Winnipeg. He served in the RCAF as a wireless operator/gunner in WWII in the North Atlantic. After the war, he settled in Nanaimo, married and and during his working years was a foreman at Harmac, retiring in 1980. In 1976 he and Helen moved to Gabriola Island where they resided until 1992. Many happy hours were spent on Gabriola with family and friends. A quiet man, Brock was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, golfing, curling and fishing. A charter member of the Gabriola Island Golf and Country Club as he served a term as President in its early years. He was instrumental in launching the original Nanaimo Curling Club and was also a past President. Brock was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10. Many thanks to Dr. Luttrell and Nanaimo Home Care for their kindness and support. A celebration of Brock’s life will be held at 1324 Sherwood Drive, Nanaimo, B.C. on Saturday, May 20 from 1:00pm-5:00pm. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the charity of your choice. Cremation looked after by First Memorial Services.
