Mom left us on April 4, 2020. She is predeceased by our dad Gerd, who passed away in 2008.
Survived by her children; Guenter, Juergen (Lorana), Anne (Cal), Cathy (Doug), grandchildren Shauna, Alia, Chris, Sara and Ross, and 3 great grandchildren. She was born in Nurnberg, Germany on December 27, 1937 and immigrated to Canada in 1958, travelling by ship with 2 small children to reunite with dad who had arrived earlier.
They settled in Hamilton, Ontario and in 1967 moved across Canada to the west coast, to Kitimat and finally Nanaimo. They were very proud Canadians and loved camping and dancing and were both members of the Travelling Squares dance club, mom continuing on after dad passed away. She worked at Sears and Woolworths in Nanaimo and later ran a family daycare at their home on Timberview.
Mom was a member of the Heart Fit seniors exercise group in Bowen Park and enjoyed many long walks at Buttertubs Marsh and Nanaimo waterfront. She was a very social person and valued her many friendships and was devoted to her family. She will be deeply missed by us all.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Many thanks to the doctors and caring staff at Nanaimo Palliative Care.
