Heather Vivienne Joy Nash passed away peacefully on January 1, 2022, aged 91.
Heather was born in Bourne, England in 1930, the second youngest of four girls. She married Richard (Dick) Nash in 1951 and they celebrated their 70th anniversary this past December.
Heather and Dick emigrated to Canada in 1951, first settling in Montreal then moving on to Ottawa where they raised their family. Upon retiring, they moved to Vancouver Island where they quickly made friends and became part of a welcoming and active community.
Loving mother to Richard (Cynthia), Julie (Steve Witt), Philip (Sheri-Lynn) and cherished Nana to seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. They will always remember her warmth, joyous laugh and love of baking.
Heather was an incredibly kind, generous and open-hearted woman, who made friends all around the world while travelling with Dick. She also had an adventurous spirit which saw her on safaris, ballooning, enjoying spicy foods and flying in gliders.
She loved meeting people, all animals, dancing, and performed in many British Club shows in Nanaimo through the years.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff at Avenir Memory Care for their excellent care and attention given to Heather during her stay.
Heather will be sorely missed by all her family and friends. May she rest in peace. At her request, there will be no formal funeral service. Flowers are gratefully declined but, if desired, donations may be made to the Nanaimo SPCA.
