Harold Buck, 95 years old, peacefully passed away in his sleep Monday morning, October 15, 2019 in Nanaimo, BC. He was a beloved husband of the late Phyllis Buck, and was also predeceased by his daughter Paula Dalby.
Harold is survived by his daughters Bonnie McDougall (Ian) and Susan Robertson (Bob), his grandchildren Katelyn McDougall, Jordan
Robertson, Dallas Robertson, Chelsea Carr, Kirk Dalby, and Paige Dalby, as well as his great-grandchildren.
Harold was born in Union Bay, and moved to Nanaimo at young age. Early in life he worked in the logging industry and owned his own logging truck. Later he open his own gas station Fountain Service. He also worked for the Regional District of Nanaimo in the Public Works department. Over his life he worked on many different machines, and had a degree in common sense.
As a member of Nanaimo Yacht club Harold enjoyed boating and spending time on the water. He enjoyed travelling and took many trips to Hawaii. Most evenings Harold could be found strolling through Bowen Park or enjoying Maffeo Sutton Park. He loved children, dogs, and nature.
Harold was a quiet and kind man with a cheeky sense of humour. He will be fondly remembered by many for his positive outlook on life, and his sage wisdom to always “keep smiling”.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Harold’s life on Sunday, November 24, 2019 between 11:30 am and 2:30 pm at Bowen Park Complex in Room 1.
