Hans Younk (Junk) - Born in Frankfurt AM, Germany on May 1, 1927, passed away at 5:30 pm on February 9, 2018.
He was surrounded by his family and by the incredible team at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Palliative Care Unit allowing his passing to be a truly peaceful experience.
Hans was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and he will be greatly missed by his family.
He is survived by his wife, his partner and best friend of over 57 years, Lene, who was able to share in the final steps of his journey. His three children, Karina, Cicely and John were blessed to have such a wonderful father (Papa) and are so grateful for all the friends of Hans who have supported him and have expressed warm wishes.
There will be a celebration of a life well-lived once arrangements can be made.
In his memory, and in lieu of flowers, Hans' family requests that you consider supporting your local hospice and palliative care service.
Life includes end of life and the work that the hospice and palliative care professionals and volunteers performed was so important, not only to Hans, but to his family, who loved him very much.
