March 31, 1927 – September 16, 2019
Gwynne Russell born March 31, 1927, in Southborough, England, died peacefully on September 16, 2019, in Nanaimo, B.C. Gwynne is predeceased by her beloved husband Herbert James (Jim) Russell and her sister Mary. Gwynne was loved by so many people, including her two daughters Elizabeth and Hilary, their husbands, and her four grandsons Graham, Richard, Emmett, and Eric, as well as her remaining family in England. She was very proud of her English heritage, and she made sure to have tea time as often as possible.
After moving to Canada as a war bride, Gwynne settled in the Fraser Valley as well as living in various places along the coast including Gabriola Island, and later Nanaimo. She was an active member of our community, and she volunteered at the Gabriola Island library as well as laterally Global Village as long as she possibly could. She was a member of St. Pauls Anglican Church for many years. Gwynne greatly valued her independence, living on her own with the support of her family until the very end.
The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors and nurses at Nanaimo Hospital, who helped make her last days comfortable.
