Gunter passed away peacefully on the morning of November 19, 2017, after a brief illness, with his wife and life partner Sigrid at his bedside.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers and many other family members.
He is survived by his loving wife Sigrid (Issy), of 61 years, their daughter Leona and their granddaughter Frances.
Also mourning his passing are many other loving family members in Germany and in Canada.
Gunter was born in Pomerania and after the war and his marriage, he and Issy immigrated to Canada to make a new life. Ge was a skilled brick mason and formed his own masonry company which was well respected in the community until his retirement. He was proud of his skill and had integrity to whichever job that he undertook.
Gunter was a loving family man. His home was his happy place and he loved nothing better than creating fantastic gardens and landscapes. His talents of brick laying and gardening went hand in hand. He created fountains, ponds and gardens that were spectacular.
The family would like to express our deep gratitude to all of the staff at the Cedar Unit at Dufferin Place for their loving and compassionate care for Gunter in his last days.
We will be eternally grateful to each and everyone of you.
There will be no formal service by request of the family, but a celebration of life may take place at a later date.
