Greg passed away surround by his family
on the evening of April 4, 2014.
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, brother and uncle. Greg was devoted family man, born and raised in Creston, BC. Greg loved his job working the produce department at Save On Foods. He retired after 33 years with Overwaitea Food Group.
He is survived by his mother Kathleen, siblings Corliss and Randy and predeceased by his father Roy. Greg married Ena on October 15, 1977 and was blessed with two amazing sons, Stephen and Mark.
Greg loved the game of hockey. He played with the Creston Clippers as a youth, making many lifelong friendships.
In later years Greg played in the Nanaimo Old-timers Hockey association, with the Queen’s Hotel Blues. The team travelled to many tournaments in Victoria and Hawaii.
Greg found joy in his love for golf, working in his and his mother’s gardens. Greg and his family loved spending time in Hawaii at their condo and Bette’s cabin on Protection Island.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday April 12, 2014 from 11am-3:00pm at Fairwinds Golf Club in Nanoose Bay, BC.
A Celebration of Life for Greg will be held at a later date this summer for family & friends in Creston, BC.
In lieu of flowers, we request memorial donations to be sent in the Memory of Greg Allen to the Protection Island Lions Club. Proceeds will be going towards a new hospital bed for the residents of Protection Island. Cheques payable to: Protection Island Lions Club, 208-Colevilleton Trail Protection Island Nanaimo BC V9R 6R1.
Greg’s family wish to thank their friends on Protection Island, Dr Vaughan, Homecare nurses and the Red Cross for their help in supporting Greg’s final wish come true. Special thanks to all of the family and friends that have supported our family through Greg’s final journey.
