It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon William Hobbs, June 16, 2017 at Nanaimo, BC.
Gordon was born on October 12, 1943, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He is predeceased by his parents, Iris Fleda & Frank Henry Hobbs, brother, James Leslie, and sister’s Karen Ann Howe and Patricia Gail Alvarez.
He is survived by his wife, Verna of 48 years, daughter, Ann-Marie Gale, son, David Gordon (Valerie Jane), plus grand children, Malcolm David and Liam Gordon. He is also survived by his sister Mari Ann (Bob) Klassen and many nephews and nieces.
Gordon’s early years were spent growing up in Winnipeg and then in California. He moved back to Canada in his teen years to follow his career as a welder in the oil and gas industry in Alberta. He was a proud and successful Tradesman and continued his career after moving to BC in 1990 with a short time in the trucking industry as a class 1 driver.
He enjoyed many outdoor activities throughout his life including camping, motor and sail boating, fishing, skiing, archery, and hunting.
Gordon’s retirement has been spent enjoying time with his family and trying to regain his health from serious issues.
Gordon will be greatly missed by his family. There will be no service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
