Butterworth, Gordon Lenard

July 14, 1939 ~ January 7, 2011

Gordon Butterworth was born in Port Alberni and lived in the valley with his parents and brother for much of his early life. As a young man, he received his mechanics certificate from Chatwin Motors and the remainder of his life involved working with and owning heavy equipment. With his brother, Donald, he owned GorDon Trucking Co. and spent many years working and living in Port Hardy. In the latter part of his life, he settled in Parksville with his wife Carol. Early in life he enjoyed building and racing hydroplanes, but in his later years he got great pleasure from fishing in the Alberni Canal, riding his ATV with his friends and attending shooting events at the Western Handgunners range. Gordon was a generous, hardworking person who will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Gordon is predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Symons and father, Levi Smith (Jajack) Butterworth. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Butterworth; daughter, Debra Butterworth; son, Grant Butterworth; brother, Donald Butterworth and three grandchildren: Josh Butterworth, Tarryn Robinson and Alicia Butterworth. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Rest in peace.
