DUDLEY, Gordon Gerhart

1924 ~ 2009

“GORD” passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital in his “85th” year.

Born in Nanaimo, B.C. on Sunday, June 8, 1924, the oldest of the three sons of John (Jack) T. and Annie (Eileen) Dudley. He is survived by, deeply loved, and will be greatly missed by Thelma, his wife of 61 ½ years; daughter Linda Dudley; son Ron (Gail) Dudley. Loving Grandfather to Seth Mennie (Deb Mowatt), Sheri Dudley (Gordon Ritchie), Steve (Alyson) Dudley. Great Grandfather to Justin Drolet, Tylor Ritchie; brothers and best friends, Dr. John (Jack) (Audrey) Dudley, Robert (Bob) Dudley (Marg Thompson); numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives. He was very close to sisters-in-law Gertrude (Smith) Pozzi and Irene Smith.

GORD was educated in Nanaimo Public schools; during World War II he served in the Royal Canadian Navy on HMCS Midland on North Atlantic convoy duty; Degree in Agriculture at the University of British Columbia after the war. Agriculture and Animal Husbandry predominately embraced his career paths, living a productive, challenging, and interesting life to the fullest. His passions were horses, ranching/farming, teaching, trucking, sports events, travel and reading – second only to his love and devotion to family and friends.

Affiliated with numerous international agricultural associations, the Royal Canadian Legion, and the Royal Canadian Naval Association.

THE FAMILY EXTENDS THANKS to Dr. E. Cancade, Dr. A Booth, and Dr. K. King, and the other doctors, nurses and staff of the NRGH for their tender care to Gord during his illness.

There comes a time for all of us when we must say goodbye, but memories of those we love live on and never die.
