Watkins, Gordon Allan
born in Edmonton, Alberta July 6, 1925. Passed away in the Nanaimo Seniors Village on February 8, 2005. Predeceased by his wife Doraine in 1975. Survived by: his wife Vera, three children: Connie (John) Thyssen of Nanaimo, Ken (Monica) Watkins and Allan Watkins of Edmonton, Alberta, four step children: Aileen Dobrovitz, Harry (Elaine) Miller, Carl (Linda) Miller and Ken (Jade) Miller, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Gordon was a Canadian Veteran of the Second World War. He joined the Canadian Army in Calgary, Alberta. He received his training there. From Calgary he went to Ontario for more training and took a course in Bren Gun Carrier. He was sent to England, then active overseas duty in Holland, Belgium, France and Germany. He served four years in World War II. He was discharged in Calgary in 1946. At Gordon’s request, there will be no service. Cremation at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gordon’s memory given to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Our family thanks the staff of Nanaimo Seniors Village for all the special care given to Gordon during his stay. Gordon will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A celebrations of Gordon’s life will be held at a later date.
