McNeil, Gordon A.
Gordon A. McNeil made his journey from life Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 13:15. He was born on December 26, 1933 and was proud of being second generation Nanaimo. A lot happened between these two dates.
His first occupation was on tug boats. He worked his way up to skipper. He married Doris and had three sons: Randy, Steve, and Charlie. Tug boating didn’t suit family life so he worked at B.C. Ferries and then at Nanoose Naval Base.
His many interests included hiking, bridge, and travel. Healthy eating and lots of exercise were also important to him. He loved to discuss almost anything. How the world worked was a favourite topic.
His real interest was people. He would patiently walk with a new hiker and willingly drive the elderly to bridge. He once said he had 480 years of experience in one car ride. He loved to test people and those who passed got him as a friend.
We will gather to remember him at the Nanaimo Yacht Club on February 25 @ 2:00pm.
“…Gordon, I hope this was brief enough for the economy rate.”
