In Loving Memory ~

With sorrow, we announce the passing of Glen Ellis Plueckhahn. He is survived by his wife Grace; daughters Janet, Ann (Jim), Julie (Michael), and Alix (Glenn); grandchildren Christina, Stephanie, Michael, Christopher, Jennifer, Nathan, Clinton, Scott, and Andrew; twelve great-grandchildren; and Australian nieces Debra and Sally, and nephew David.

He was predeceased by parents Ernest and Doris, siblings Edna and Vernon, daughter Joanna, and nephew Rick.

A fourth-generation Australian, Glen's ancestors emigrated from Germany to South Australia in the 1840s. Glen excelled academically and athletically, playing left wing for South Australia's field hockey team. As a civil engineer, he helped plan homes for WW2 veterans. His artistic talent emerged early and continued later through his paintings.

In 1957, Glen emigrated to Canada, working for BC Electric before joining Vancouver City Planning. He met and married Vicky, earning his teaching degree at UBC. Moving to Nanaimo in 1967, he taught chemistry and math at NDSS for 19 years. Vicky's illness led to their early retirement and her passing.

Glen was a respected teacher and leader, serving as NDTA President in the 1970s. He embraced technology, becoming a computer enthusiast later in life.

In 1991, Glen married Grace, sharing a life of travel and family. Since 2018, they've resided at Origin at Longwood, where for the past two years Glen received compassionate care in the Astoria wing following a stroke.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Philip-by-the-Sea on February 15, following Glen's own detailed instructions.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army are appreciated.
