Dalzell, Gladys Lilian

Our dear mum passed away peacefully on Dec. 5, 2014 in Nanaimo, BC. Mum lived a full life of 96 years. She was born in Folkestone, Kent, England on July 16, 1918. In 1951 Mum, Dad and their three children emigrated to Canada settling permanently in Nanaimo. Mum is survived by her children Michael (Susan) Arizona, loving daughter Suzanne (Brian) Ladysmith, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Walter and Lilian, First husband Patrick Houlihan, brother Maurice, second husband Finlay Dalzell and her youngest son Colin in August of this year. Mum loved to travel and even in her late 80’s visited the Maritimes and cruised the Panama. She spent many enjoyable hours volunteering at #256 Legion and the Women of the Moose until her health failed her when she was 90. Mum will be dearly missed by her daughter Suzanne. Special thanks to Brent, Natasha and staff at Keeping House for all the loving care and attention they gave Mum for the past 6 years and also to the staff at Nanaimo Seniors Village for their kindness and compassion they showed Mum for the short time she was there.
