In loving memory ~

Gillian Russell Niles passed away on July 21, 2024 after battling cancer for 10 months. She went peacefully with her children by her side. Gill was born in England and immigrated to Canada with her parents when she was still a toddler. They settled first in Lachine then in Chateauguay, Quebec for 14 years, where Gill gained three siblings: Christine (Worsely), Larry (Stockdale) and Jan (Robertson). In 1967, the family packed up and moved to Horseshoe Bay. Soon after, Gill went to Europe and lived in London for a few years before returning home to B.C. with her then husband, Barry Niles. Her children, Dan and Kelly, were born in Port Coquitlam. While the kids were still young, Gill followed her parents to live in Calgary for several years, but a longing for the west coast brought her back to BC and she eventually made Nanaimo her permanent home. Gill is predeceased by her parents (Tom and Doreen Stockdale), her brother Larry, and her long-time partner, Martin. She is survived by her daughter Kelly; her son Dan (Cary); her grandchildren Dodge, Nash, Chevelle, Gavin, Lincoln and Georgia; her sisters Jan and Christine; her niece Diana, her nephews Adam and Brad; her great nieces Sydney and Emily; and many dear and treasured friends. Gill will be remembered for her honesty, her spirituality and her strength. But most of all, Gill will be remembered for her laugh and the laughter she brought to every situation.

We wish we had more time. To laugh. To reminisce. To hold hands.

But before we knew it. You were gone. And we were left.

Wishing we had more time.

Gill's Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
