May 26, 1936 – January 25, 2019
Gil was a quiet man but always enjoyed getting together with friends and listening more than talking. He took interest in many things. He especially enjoyed the Harbour City Newcomers/Alumni and the wonderful friends he made through it. Although having lived all his life in Ontario and being perhaps a little hesitant to leave it he quickly came to love Nanaimo, the slower pace of life, pub lunches and walking at Neck Point and the harbour. He met challenges with courage, strength and grace. As one friend described him he was a gentle man as well as a gentleman.
Gil has had a very challenging year but it’s been made so much more bearable with the loving support of family, friends and neighbours and also the care of all the staff at NRGH, the home support and Dr. C. Moonsamy. We will miss him so very much but he will be remembered always. Although he is gone we take comfort in the fact that it was a quiet, peaceful journey in the end and he is now free of pain.
At Gil’s request there will be no service.
