March 28, 2006

BIERMAN, Gerry

Born July 2, 1949 in Amsterdam, Holland. Peacefully passed away in Nanaimo at NRGH on March 28, 2006 from complications of Multiple Myeloma. Gerry is survived by his devoted wife and friend of 21 years, Brenda; and his four footed companion Pita. Also, his brothers Hans and Harry, father-in-law Peter Patey and brother -in law Brian Patey and many other extended family. Never to be forgotten for his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to live simply so others could simply live...Gerry worked unassumingly and tirelessly to help others who were less fortunate by donating his limited time and energy to the Cancer Society and Salvation Army. Gerry’s uncanny way of living in the “now” and making each day count was remarkable and so very inspiring to so many! He will be greatly missed but, forever remembered by his dear friends, especially Jim and Terri Dunn and Natalie Sullivan. Special thanks to Dee, Stepanie and Dr. Du Puis in ER, the fabulous staff of the Palliative Care Unit, especially Dr. Mitenko, RN’s Charlotte and Val, Dr. Keith Song and the staff of B4 Unit at Vancouver General Hospital and Dr. Robert Price (retired). Memorial Service was held at First Memorial Funeral Home at 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, BC on Friday March 31st, 2006 at 1:30pm. A celebration of Gerry’s life followed at the Windward Pub, #14-1588 Boundary Crescent from 3:00pm to 4:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Society or Salvation Army gratefully appreciated.
