Gerd Bouman passed away peacefully  November 24, with his family by his side.  Survived by Helga his loving wife of 53 years, children, Guenter (Heather), Juergen (Lorana), Anne (Cal), Cathy, grandchildren, Shauna, Alia (Clay), Chris, Sara, Ross, and brother, Rolf, cousins, Harry and Anne in Germany. 

Born in Hamburg, Germany on August 4, 1927, he met and married his sweetheart Helga before immigrating to Canada in 1958. Settling first in Ontario, in 1967 loaded up the station wagon and moved west to Kitimat to work at Alcan.  Settled in Nanaimo in 1969 to work at Westinghouse.  Gerd loved music, life and family and had many hobbies including square-dancing, where he taught young people to dance.  He belonged to the Nanaimo Theatre Group and was a founding member of the Malaspina Choir.  He enjoyed camping, playing accordian and tinkering with his many useful inventions.  He was a kindhearted and loving family man and will be missed by all who knew him. 

Thank you to Dr. Helmut Mark and the many specialists and nurses in Nanaimo and Victoria during his many years of fighting heart disease. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, November 30th at the Nanaimo Yacht Club, 400 Newcastle Ave, Nanaimo, BC.
