In Loving Memory ~
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Gerald Gunner Cleave of Nanaimo, B.C. on Nov 15, 2022 at the age of 80.
Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 43 years, Gwen, his children Bob Cleave, Gary Cleave, Teri Burstein, grandchildren Brandon, Shelby, Mitchell and Edward, his great-grandchildren Hayden and Ryse Cleave. Also, left missing him are a large extended family of sister and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Gerry was born in Vancouver, B.C. on December 12, 1941 to Clarence Sydney Cleave and Evelyn May Cleave (Hume) and has called Nanaimo home since he met the love of his life Gwen in 1978.
Gerry was a soft spoken, quiet, proud, kind, dedicated family man, and a man true to his word. For those of us fortunate enough to know Gerry, his life was a blessing, his memory a treasure and he was loved beyond words. He was a true lover of life and a humorous storyteller. He had a zest for life that was so evident in how he lived it.
Throughout his lifetime he enjoyed the finer things in life with those he cared the most about, his “Family”.
Gerry had the greatest sense of humour and will be remembered for his mischievous grin and most of all, the twinkle in his eyes.
We will treasure each and every memory we have of him. His family loved him from the bottom of their hearts. Gerry will be sorely missed.
We “love you more.”
Special thanks to all of the staff in Palliative Care, who took such good care of him. You are all Angels.
As per Gerry’s wishes, there will be no services held.
Donations are welcomed in his name to the “Heart and Stroke Foundation”.
