On September 6th, 2017, George passed away peacefully at the age of 85 in Nanaimo, B.C.

He is predeceased by his wife Lucienne, his parents and siblings.

He is survived by all his children Barbara, Patrick, George, Kelly and Bryan, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many more extended family members.

George was born in Northern Ireland. In 1951, he served as a corporal for the Territorial Army of Northern Ireland. He attended Trinity College and Queen's University in Belfast obtaining his mechanical engineering degree. He was an avid rugby player and fan.

Immigrating  to Canada in 1954 and settling in northern Alberta. It was there that he met and married his love Lucienne (Mercredi) and pursued their wish of a large family.

He was an equipment specialist for Syncrude Canada for 26 years before retiring in 1987.

A major force in the preservation of steam power he took great pride to rebuild and maintain all his many projects and cherished his many trips as engineer, bringing the past forward. His work can be seen at Port Alberni Railway Museum, Duncan Forest Museum, Kettle Valley Railway and Alberta Pioneer Railway Association.

An accomplished oil painting artist, his works adorn walls worldwide and are praised for their attention to detail. So life like you can feel the power and hear the whistle blow. He was a member of the Nanaimo Art 10 gallery, The Guild of Railway Artists (U.K.) and Bently Global Arts Group (U.S.A.)

Our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, co-worker and friend will be truly missed.

May the sound of a train whistle fill our aching hearts with many cherished memories.

George requested a private service at a later date.

Many thanks to the Dwelling Place, N.R.G.H. and Sands Funeral Chapel.

Donations to the S.P.C.A or wildlife funds will be greatly appreciated.
