passed away at home in the early morning of May 30, 2004 with his loving wife by his side. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan June 30, 1923. He leaves to mourn his wife of 57 years Grace, son Terry (Kathy) Venables, Calgary, Alta., son Leo Venables Nanamo, BC, daughter Cheryl (John Dud) Nanaimo, BC, daughter Arlene (Pete Fenn) Nanaimo, BC, grand-daughter Deja Venables, of Vancouver, BC, grandson Cory Venables Victoria, BC, grandson Wayne Venables (Susan Turner) Vancouver, BC, grandson Brandon Dud and grandson David Fenn of Nanaimo, BC, great-granddaughter Makaia Roberts of Vancouver, BC, sister Ada (Will) Gagnon of Port Hope, Ont. as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. George was predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Cecil Venables, brother and sister-in-law Alfred and Leona Venables brothers: Arthur and Virgil Venables. George was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Lantzville Branch #287, Life Member of the B.P.O. Elks & Past Exalted Ruler of the Nanaimo Elks Lodge #26, Chaired the Elks Variety Show for 25 years and active member of the Amalgam Eighters Square Dance Club. Visitation Friday June 04, 2004 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in St. Paul’s Anglican Church 100 Front St., Nanaimo with Funeral service to follow with Rev. Ron MacLuskie officiating,interment in the Cedar Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elk’s Royal Purple National Fund for Children c/o Nanaimo Royal Purple Lodge #16 Box 115, #4-1150 Terminal Avenue, Nanaimo, BC, V9S 5L6.
