Scotty came to Canada from Scotland as a young lad of 15 years. First to Alberta and then made his way to Vancouver Island. While at a dance at Pleasant Valley Hall (checking out the lady’s) met his future wife Gail. The two became inseparable from that moment on. After a whirlwind courtship, short engagement they married months later in 1954.
Scotty worked construction as a crane operator that took his family on many moves and adventures across BC & the Yukon. The family finally settled in Cedar where Scotty & Gail decided to buy their first Crane, they were so busy that they just kept adding more. They had a great crew of crane operators that soon became part family.
Probably the only company that the owner was also voted the shop steward. Scotty donated his time & equipment to help in the community, sponsored a Race Car and Ball Teams. He even brought his Crane for the grandchildren’s show & tells.
Scotty & Gail love to travel. Made trips back to Scotland to see family, many trips to New Zealand, Hawaii, etc..etc.. and added numerous Cruises.
Upon retirement bought their first Motor Home & off the two went travelling across Canada & the US. Being a family man many trips included his children, their spouses and grandchildren.
His family would like to thank the Nurses & Doctors at NRGH especially those in Palliative Care who not only cared for Scotty but his family too. Making Gail comfortable & able to lay his side to their final goodbye here on earth. Also would like to thank the staff at Kiwanis for the comfort they continue to give.
Gail & Laurie are especially thankful for family, Leanne, Vicki and Carly for all their continued support and love through these last few weeks. Bless you.
Due to covid-19 a Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonalds House or Autism. We thank you.
Scotty’s favourite saying “Remember The Good Times” there were many!
