Frederick

James McEachern

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, devoted father, and dear friend, Frederick James McEachern. He leaves behind his wife, Lorraine; daughter Paige (Dan); son Tristan; and sister Gail Hagen (Andy), nephews Mike and Trev. Fred will be remembered as a loving family man by his extended family including Auntie Mary, Auntie Ellen, Keith (Cynthia); Gerald (Julie); Lois (Dave) and Tom (Bev).

Born and raised in Victoria BC, Fred graduated from Oak Bay and then continued on to BCIT. Fred made friends everywhere he went and has kept his friends close. He worked in the fishing and lumber industries; he loved his job at Western Forest Products. Hockey was a huge part of Fred’s life from an early age, both playing and coaching his children and others, and playing for many years with his friends on the Hornets and still played with the boys on the Grumpy Rangers. He also played and then coached baseball. He loved fishing and golfing and camping. Fred loved life and his family and friends... and the odd beer and cigar. Fred took a practical approach to life but never lost sight of the fun parts.

We are devastated to have it all end so soon.

A celebration of Fred’s life will be held at Beban Park Social Centre, 2300 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, on May 10th at noon.
