November 22, 1931 – September 16, 2021
Fred Louis Litke passed away peacefully on September 16th, 2021 in Nanaimo, B.C. at the age of 89 years. He was born in Beausejour, MB, on November 22nd, 1931.
He is survived by Betty Joan Litke (nee Kines), his wife of 65 years, his son Bevyn, his daughter Shannon, grandchildren Lauren, Torre, Justin and Matthew, and great grandchildren Kaden, Cohen, and William. He is also survived by his sisters Tillie and Alma.
Fred’s passion was his family and family gatherings, the bigger the better. He loved hockey and in his younger years played for a number of organizations affiliated with the Detroit Red Wings. Later on, he couldn’t get away from the sport and became very involved with the Nanaimo Old Tubbers hockey club.
He also spent a lot of time skiing and playing golf with friends and family. He also loved to travel, whether it was western Canada or Europe. His outgoing, engaging, and inquisitive nature seemed to bless him with new friends everywhere he went.
He was the best husband and father any family could wish for and he will always hold a huge place in all of our hearts.
A farewell “See ya later Freddy” can be wished at Arbor Memorial in Cedar, B.C.
