Frank (Francis) Richard Avender passed away on May 8, 2016 at the age of 73 after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was a deeply sentimental man, keeping every birthday card, letter, post card and golf scorecard that provided a connection to the people he loved. He cherished and loved his two sons, Brent and Paul, as well as Donna, the mother of his boys, and absolutely adored his three grandsons – Dryden, Ryerson and Maclean.

What defined him most was his never ending willingness to lend a helping hand and share his knowledge of how to build and fix things. The list of friends and family that he helped build a house or fix a car would fill a very thick book… and he did all without the thought of reciprocation. He gave of his time and his knowledge without motivation. The simple satisfaction that he had helped someone was his payment. The hope is that this unselfish and noble style rubbed off on those fortunate to have been treated by Frank’s generosity, and that they now embrace some semblance of this grace themselves.

Frank will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. All are welcome to join the family at a celebration of Frank’s life, which will be held after the Avender Open on Sunday July 31; contact bavender@telus.net for details.
