FRANK CHONG WONG

September 15, 1918-June 11, 2013

It is with great sadness and grief that we announce the passing of Frank Wong. He passed away peacefully at Malaspina Gardens on June 11, 2013, at the age of 94.

Frank was predeceased by his loving wife of 72+ years, Jennie Lee Wong on February 1, 2013. He is survived by his loving children: Martin (Beverly), Mabel (Preston) and Gilbert. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Christopher, Angela, Christina, Nathaniel, Brandon, Shane and Kevan; great grandchildren: Sean and Calyssa. He will be greatly missed by his brothers: Wally, Raymond (Kae), Larry (Gracie), and his sisters: Dorothy, Kathleen, Anna (Charlie), Deanna and sister-in-law Shirley; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Frank was born in China and was the eldest of 12 children. He came to Canada as an infant and started his career, with 2 brothers, as a cobbler. It began as a shoe repair business, and then they opened WONG BROS. SHOE RENU. Eventually the brothers moved away and Frank and Jennie continued the business on their own until 1999. Frank was a savvy business man and made many friends.

Frank will be fondly remembered for his great love of sports. He was a great multi-tasker when it came to his games. He could read the scores in the paper, watch a game on TV and listen to another on the radio, all at the same time.

Frank was a quiet, gentle soul. He was also a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. We are forever blessed to have shared the life of this man we loved so dearly.

The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude and thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at Malaspina Gardens (Franklyn First Floor), for their excellent care of Frank. No service by request.
