AQUINO,

Frank Albino “Poppa Wop”

September 8, 1929 ~ October 21, 2013

It is with heavy hearts that Frank’s family announces his passing on October 21, 2013 at 7:30 p.m., with his family by his side at the Palliative Care Unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Frank was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by his children: Kathi Baart (John), Rick Aquino (Cindy), Kerry Aquino (Ory); grandchildren: Brennan Baart (Rachael), Riley & Brianna Aquino; his cousins, nieces, nephews and long time friends.

Frank was born in Extension B.C. and remained a lifetime resident of Nanaimo where he worked at various jobs in the woods for close to 40 years, including: machine operator, logging truck driver, and logger. He was predeceased by his parents, seven older siblings, numerous relatives and good friends.

He was a very compassionate and creative man with a hearty laugh and wonderful sense of humour. Frank loved the good times he shared with his family, relatives, friends, and his beloved pets, Tia, Brandy and Cruiser. He enjoyed being outdoors with nature, fishing, gardening, cooking, dancing and spending time in his beautiful back yard. For years, he was a long-time member of the TGIF Singles Club and the Cavallotti Lodge where he volunteered with various functions.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cavallotti Lodge on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 2:00p.m. with Fred Massey officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to his favourite animal charities – the Nanaimo & District SPCA and the CatNap Cat Rescue Society.

Special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit staff, Dr. Eric Javaneri, Dr. Katherine King, Denise at Hospice, as well as the paramedics, nurses and doctors at NRGH.
