BUSH, Evelyn M.

August 27th, 1922 - August 11th, 2016

Born in Falkland, BC, Evelyn later moved as a child with her family to Vernon, BC. After completing her education and working in nursing at Vernon hospital, Evelyn taught dance classes to the soldiers at the Vernon Military Camp. It was there, at an army dance, that Evelyn met Gord, the love of her life. They were married on March 3, 1944, and never looked back, spending over 68 years together. True love is rare, and their love was radiant. From that love came two children, five grandsons, and five great-grandchildren. Nothing brought Nana more happiness than being with her family and watching the children grow. She enjoyed her sewing group, gardening at the house in East Wellington and making fine home cooked meals, of which many were served to friends and family alike. When she and Gord moved to the Long Lake Chateau, Evelyn made many new friends. A heartfelt thank you is given to Dennis and Joy, and to the whole “horse racing crew”. Also warm thanks to Marybeth, Jack, and Tess at Lakeside Gardens for being such great friends, and to the Home Support Workers there as well, particularly Charlie and Claudette, for your concern and care. Through Ev’s brief battle with cancer, our family is most grateful to her Palliative Care Nurse, Janna, for all of her support, and to Dr. Goodall and staff. A special thank you to Carmen and her staff at Pharmasave for all of their patience and support.

Evelyn brought an inimitable brightness, a unique wit and sense of humour, and a tireless cheer everywhere she went in life. She will be sorely missed by our family, and by everyone whose lives she touched. We rest easier knowing she is with Gord again, and is finally at peace.
