passed away suddenly at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, on Saturday, May 01, 2004. Born August 21, 1935 in Nanaimo. Evelyn graduated in 1953 from Nanaimo District Secondary School. Worked in the main branch, Bank of Montreal, Terminal Avenue for 1 year. Graduated from the Royal Columbian Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. Employed at Calgary General Hospital, Vancouver General Hospital and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital where she became Head Nurse of the 3rd floor. Later was an Assistant Administrator of Kiwanis Lodge. Was also a Practical Nurse Instructor at Malaspina University College. Evelyn had a love of life extended to her husband Jim, daughter Naomi and family, son Chris and family, and her many dear relatives and friends. Predeceased by her father William McNeil, survived by her loving husband Jim of 35 years, 1 daughter Naomi (Tom) Stapleton, 3 grandchildren Alicia, Rachel and Mark, Kelowna, 1 son Chris (Sheila) Macfie, 3 grandchildren Andrew, Shelby and Spencer, Duncan. Also survived by her mother Kathrine McNeil, 1 sister Hilda Higgs, 3 brothers Lawrence (Kay), Gord and Roy (Doris) all of Nanaimo, 1 aunt Anne Devaney of Powell River who was very supportive during Ev's 4 years of Nursing School. Several nieces and nephews and many friends. Jim would like to thank the Doctors who attended to Ev and the Nurses and Staff on the 6th floor at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Memorial service will be held Saturday, May 8th, 2004 at 10:00 AM in Brechin United Church, 1998 Estevan Road, Nanaimo. Rev. Kris Jensen officiating. Cremation. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Evelyn’s memory to the charity of ones choice. Arrangements entrusted to First Memorial Funeral Services.
