Evelyn Florence Gardner - May 1, 1962 - October 25, 2008
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn Florence Gardner after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Evelyn was born in Nanaimo on May 1, 1962 and died at NRGH on October 25, 2008.
Evelyn was predeceased by her brothers Frank Gardner, William Windley, and Kaitlin’s dad Douglas Yelle. She is survived by her beloved daughter Kaitlin Yelle, her father Tony Gardner, her mother Harriet Windley (Bill), her siblings Denise (Craig) Robertson, Tony Gardner Jr., Nicole Ayge & Declan, Rae Raby (Adam), her uncle John Cooper, her nephews Adam & Tyler, Robertson & Matt, Andrew and Michael Taylor. Eve will also be greatly missed by her extended family Ann and George Yelle, Barbara (David) Taylor and Alison (Troy) O’Toole.
Eve was a kind and gentle person with a generous and caring heart. She is loved by all who were privileged to know her. Her contagious smile was embraced by all. She will be missed by her many friends and colleagues.
Eve was long-time employee of Johnston Drug Wholesale. She was also an enthusiastic White Rapids swim mom: eagerly helping out when needed as well as cheering on and making friends with swimmers of all clubs.
Evelyn’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the NRGH Palliative Care Unit, her friends Linda, Erin, Julie and Barb G. who lovingly nursed and cared for her and Pastor Dan for his words of comfort. In addition, the parents of the White Rapids Swim Club who brought food, visited and supported “our Kait” as well as Kait’s friends, teacher and everyone who called, visited and supported us over the last 2 months. A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held on: November 9th at 1:30 pm at he Bowen Park Complex (beside Kinsmen Pool).
