passed away peacefully on January 9, 2004 in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Enid, born in St. John’s, Newfoundland in 1924, came west with her husband Lloyd George Martin at the end of World War II. They lived in a number of locations in BC, settling in Nanaimo in the early 1970’s. She was a skilled homemaker and devoted to the care of her family. She made deep friendships that lasted for years. She suffered many losses over the years; her first son David, her husband Lloyd, her sister Ruth, brother Fred, and her youngest son Ralph. She is survived by her daughter Helen, a brother Eric and his family in Halifax, nephews Robert and Russell and their families in St. John’s, Newfoundland and a niece Beth, in Cranbrook, as well as sisters-in-law Margaret in Cranbrook and Lorraine in Victoria. A service in her memory will be held on January 17, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Sands Funeral Home at #1 Newcastle Avenue, Nanaimo, BC. In lieu of flowers donations to the Cancer Society, the MS Society, the Salvation Army or another charity of your choice would be appreciated.
