Emily Constance (Connie)

Emily passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side July 31, 2012 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, Palliative Care Unit. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, William (Bill) Maclauchlan, in 2002. Connie is survived by her two daughters: Anne (Hugh) Reid, of Nanaimo BC, Lorraine Maclauchlan of Kamloops BC; cousin, Bob (Anne) Constable of Calgary, Alberta; niece, Doreen Maclauchlan of Gibsons BC; and nephew, Jim Maclauchlan of Costa Rica.

Connie was born in Calgary, Alberta January 13, 1919. She worked in Calgary during the war and in 1946 married Bill, upon his return from service in England. Shortly thereafter they moved to Westbank (West Kelowna) B.C. In 1965 the family moved to Nanaimo, where Connie was very active in numerous charities, in particular the I.O.D.E. She was very dedicated to her family and also spent many hours fund raising to support Scholarships for young woman to attend University. She was an excellent homemaker and an avid reader, loved camping with her family, picnics, baking, and traveling in their motorhome. She was the “glue” for our close-knit family.

There will be no service by request. Donations may be made to the charity of choice, if so desired, and will be very much appreciated.

Many thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at the Nanaimo Regional Hospital.

Arrangements entrusted to
