{HAZEL} ELAINE CLARKE
Elaine, a long time resident of Chemainus, passed away on May 2, 2008 at the age of 97. She was predeceased by her husband "Nit" in 1985 and her son-in-law Jim Willson in 2003. She is survived by her daughters Marilyn (John) Kaussner of Evergreen, Colorado and Joan Willson of Osoyoos, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Elaine was born in Langley Prairie, BC on Nov 11, 1910 and spent her early years on the Lower Mainland. She moved to Port Alberni in 1926 where she met and married "Nit". They had two daughters while living in the Alberni Valley. Elaine and Nit moved their family to Chemainus in 1944. Elaine enjoyed the company of her many friends. Golfing, playing bridge and working in her garden were the pastimes she enjoyed.
Her final years were spent at the Chemainus Health Care Centre. We wish to thank the doctors and nursing staff at the Chemainus Health care Centre for making her final years and days so comfortable. She will be laid to rest at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens beside her husband, "Nit". According to her wishes there will be no service.
