Egon Paul Kuhn

July 3, 1935 – May 28, 2010

After a short battle with leukemia, Egon passed away at home with his family at his side. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Beate, and his children: Mark, Stephen and Michelle Berg: his daughters-in-law: Simone and Debbie and his son-in-law Rob, along with his grandchildren: Reece, Josephine, Jesse, Maggie and Tayler.

Egon emigrated from Germany to Victoria in 1960, where he and Beate settled to raise their family. Hired as a type-setter at the Times-Colonist, Egon quickly decided that construction held greater opportunities. He worked on dozens of commercial and residential projects up and down the Island in a career that spanned fifty years. Moving his family up-Island in the 1980’s, he called Parksville home for the past seventeen years, where he continued to work and was an active participant in local affairs.

He approached every day with a zest for life and all it had to offer. A world traveler and accomplished squash player and kayaker, he also enjoyed mountain climbing, fishing, singing and gardening.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on June 26, 2010, at Yates Funeral Chapel, 1000 Allsbrook Road, Parksville, B.C.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
